Rushnu, a carbon capture and green chemical production company based at Daybreak Labs in Livermore, CA, has announced two pilot host agreements with Silicon Valley Clean Water (SVCW) and the City of Livermore to deploy its CarbonCatalyze™ technology. The partnership aims to capture CO₂ from biogas and convert it into green chemicals, supporting both facilities’ sustainability goals and reducing their carbon footprints.
CarbonCatalyze™ technology is among the first to integrate carbon capture with green chemical production. It captures CO₂ from biogas, transforming it into chemicals used in water treatment, which reduces the plants’ carbon footprints and offers multiple benefits. The collaboration promises cost savings, carbon emissions reduction, on-site production of essential feedstock, biogas purification, and reduced truck movements to further lower environmental impact.
In addition, SVCW has signed an off-take agreement to purchase the chemicals produced once the plant achieves operational status, reinforcing a mutual commitment to sustainability. This pilot marks a significant step towards commercialising Rushnu’s technology, which aims to make carbon capture profitable without relying on government subsidies. Developed with support from the National Science Foundation’s SBIR program, the CarbonCatalyze™ technology uses a unique catalytic process to convert CO₂ into valuable base chemicals utilized across industries such as water treatment, paper, steel, and agriculture.
