India’s NueGo’s electric bus expedition from Kashmir to Kanyakumari (E-K2K) was flagged off by Nitin Gadkari, the Minister of Road Transport and Highways. NueGo, the electric bus brand under GreenCell Mobility, plans to traverse over 4,000 kilometers across a wide range of terrains through this expedition.
NueGo claims it will be the first electric bus brand globally to complete this extensive route, passing through more than 200 cities and towns to advocate for sustainable transport solutions. The journey will also include community engagement activities like student workshops, tree planting initiatives, and clean-up drives.
The expedition officially began in Jammu on October 4, navigating diverse landscapes and highlighting the suitability of electric buses for long-distance travel under various conditions. In his remarks while inaugurating the western leg of the trip, Gadkari said, “I am delighted that NueGo has embarked on this historic electric bus journey from Kashmir to Kanyakumari, covering over 4,000 km to raise awareness about electric mass mobility while conducting impactful community activities.”
Devendra Chawla, CEO and MD of GreenCell Mobility, remarked, “NueGo’s ambitious E-K2K journey will see us travel over 4,000 km from Kashmir to Kanyakumari, demonstrating the resilience of electric buses across diverse terrains. This expedition is more than just a record-breaking feat; it symbolises India’s rich cultural heritage.”
Chawla further added that this initiative aims to raise awareness of the advantages of electric mobility and inspire a broader shift toward sustainable travel solutions. NueGo’s electric buses, equipped with advanced safety features, offer a comfortable and eco-friendly travel experience, capable of covering up to 250 kilometers on a single charge, even under heavy traffic and with air conditioning.
Currently, NueGo operates in over 100 cities across India, providing inter-city travel options with a focus on safety, punctuality, and convenience. GreenCell Mobility, backed by Eversource Capital, a leading climate impact investor, is spearheading the development of electric Mobility-as-a-Service (eMaaS) solutions.
