RESET Carbon has announced a strategic partnership with Beyond Sustainable Retail Group (Beyond), to support decarbonisation efforts in the retail sector. This collaboration aims to support the retail sectors in Australia and New Zealand as they prepare to meet the demands of mandatory climate disclosure regulations, set to take effect in 2025.

The partnership aims to address gaps in the region’s sustainability efforts. An analysis by Beyond found that fewer than 10% of apparel and textile companies in Australia and New Zealand have set science-based targets, while two-thirds lack plans to manage scope 3 emissions. RESET Carbon and Beyond Sustainable Retail Group aim to offer support to help retailers comply with the new regulations.

RESET Carbon, has implemented large-scale carbon reduction initiatives for over 15 years, while Beyond Sustainable Retail Group, founded by Rick Lambell—former Head of Sustainable Development at Kmart Group—has driven sustainable development within Australia’s retail sector.

Liam Salter, CEO of RESET Carbon said, “Effective supply chain decarbonisation requires a serious and informed brand strategy along with a clear understanding of the business case. New regulations and shifting customer trends have changed the landscape for Australian and New Zealand retailers, and benchmarking against international performance highlights significant opportunities for improvement. RESET is excited to partner with Beyond Sustainable Retail Group, leveraging Beyond’s deep expertise in sustainable supply chains and strong relationships across Australia and New Zealand.”

The partnership will focus initially on apparel and textile retailers, sectors where both companies have extensive experience. It aims to equip businesses with the tools needed to address regulatory requirements while aligning with evolving stakeholder expectations. Solutions will include GHG reduction strategies, enhanced supplier engagement, and sustainable materials integration.

Rick Lambell, founder of Beyond Sustainable Retail Group said, “RESET Carbon has long been a pioneer in supply chain decarbonisation in Asia. We are thrilled to partner with RESET to bring their world-class carbon reduction solutions to retail clients in Australia and New Zealand. By combining RESET’s expertise in supplier engagement with Beyond’s experience in scaling sustainable materials, we are confident we can help our clients accelerate their progress toward Net Zero goals.”

As the retail sector works to comply with the upcoming regulations, the partnership will focus on helping businesses achieve GHG reduction goals, meet compliance requirements, and drive progress towards net zero across supply chains in the region.
