Inherit Carbon & Veas launch world’s first carbon removal from wastewater project

Inherit Carbon Solutions, a carbon removal company, in partnership with Norway’s largest wastewater treatment facility Veas and its subsidiary Hoop CO₂, has initiated a project aimed at capturing and permanently storing CO₂ from wastewater. This collaboration marks the first in carbon removal from wastewater, a step that could have global implications in the fight against climate change.

The project is being implemented at Veas’ plant in Slemmestad, serving Oslo, Asker, Bærum, and Nesodden. It involves capturing CO₂ from wastewater, transporting it, and storing it permanently underground. Hoop CO₂, a fully owned subsidiary of Veas, will handle the storage process, with the goal of developing scalable solutions that can be adapted globally.
