BuildGreen, a leader in green certifications and decarbonisation across Central and Eastern Europe, has unveiled version 1.1 of its Carbon Tool platform, valued at over €10 million. This advanced platform, designed to measure and reduce carbon footprints, arrives as approximately 50,000 European companies prepare to comply with new sustainability reporting mandates under the Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD).
“In a market where sustainability reporting requirements are becoming increasingly stringent, Carbon Tool offers companies an efficient and accessible method to manage their ESG responsibilities and avoid penalties”, said Răzvan Nica, managing partner at BuildGreen and CEO of Carbon Tool.
Nica added, “By integrating artificial intelligence, the platform automates data entry processes and provides personalised recommendations for reducing carbon emissions, tailored to each industry. Carbon Tool benefits from BuildGreen’s extensive experience, which, in over 15 years, has decarbonised more than 7.3 million square meters of built spaces and reduced client emissions by over 532,000 tons of CO₂ equivalent. In its two years of operation, the platform has delivered remarkable results, and in the current context, we anticipate doubling these figures over the next two years. The platform brings together local know-how and specialised expertise to support users from any industry in their decarbonisation efforts.”
The updated version introduces enhanced functionality and user-friendliness, with a redesigned interface that improves navigation and offers “quick-add” features for faster carbon data entry. This iteration also allows for seamless emissions tracking across projects and integrates with existing ERP solutions, optimising operational efficiency.
A standout addition is the new Science-Based Targets initiative (SBTi) calculator, now accessible on the Carbon Tool website. This feature enables users to set and track science-based emissions targets for both operational and embedded carbon, aligning companies with the latest climate goals. Carbon Tool provides a comprehensive view of emissions by covering both direct sources, like fuel combustion, and indirect sources, such as supply chain impacts.
Demonstrating the platform’s versatility, Carbon Tool recently calculated the carbon footprint for The Color Run Romania and the CIJ Awards Gala 2023, as well as the upcoming CEDER 2024 event. These collaborations highlight the platform’s role in promoting environmental accountability and supporting diverse sustainability initiatives.
