China and Indonesia inked $10 billion worth of agreements at the Indonesia-China Business Forum in Beijing on Sunday, covering diverse sectors like food, new energy, technology, and biotechnology. The forum followed a Saturday meeting between Chinese President Xi Jinping and Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto, who visited China as his first official trip since assuming office last month.
In a joint statement, the leaders committed to deeper cooperation in fields such as new energy vehicles, lithium batteries, photovoltaics, and the digital economy. They also pledged to support the global energy transition and to secure the supply of critical minerals and industrial chains.
Among the agreements, Chinese battery materials company GEM signed a deal with PT Vale Indonesia to establish a high-pressure acid leaching plant in Central Sulawesi, aimed at securing nickel resources. President Prabowo attended the signing ceremony. Additional agreements included projects in housing and the export of fresh coconuts from Indonesia to China.
