Hitachi & APIX launch green finance challenge for real estate

Hitachi, a leader in technology and innovation, in partnership with the APIX innovation platform, has launched the Green Finance Innovation Challenge to drive sustainability in the real estate sector. Responsible for 40% of global energy-related carbon emissions, according to the UN Environment Programme, the real estate sector plays a critical role in achieving global net-zero goals. The challenge invites participation from startups, fintechs, academia, and tech enterprises worldwide and will remain open for applications until 6 December 2024.

Hitachi aims to collaborate with these innovators to develop cutting-edge solutions leveraging technologies such as AI, blockchain, quantum computing, and IoT. Participants will have access to Hitachi’s Green Finance Dataset Library and resources from the Super Low Energy Building (SLEB) Platform. These tools will enable them to address key issues, including limited green finance products, lack of verifiable data, challenges in accessing sustainable investment opportunities, and insufficient incentives for sustainability upgrades.

By addressing these challenges, the initiative seeks to make buildings smarter, greener, and more energy-efficient, while accelerating the global flow of green capital. The challenge fosters collaboration and sustainability on a global scale, encouraging participants to contribute to a cleaner, smarter future and potentially establish long-term partnerships with Hitachi.
