Gresham House appoints Hyewon Kong as sustainable investment director

Gresham House, a leading alternative asset manager, has announced the appointment of Hyewon Kong as its new sustainable investment director. Based in London, Kong will spearhead the firm’s sustainable investment strategy and drive environmental, social, and governance (ESG) initiatives across its investment strategies.

Kong brings over 20 years of expertise in sustainable investing across Asia, Europe, and North America. Before joining Gresham House, she served as head of responsible investing at the Investment Management Corporation of Ontario (IMCO), where she led ESG integration across multiple asset classes. Her extensive experience also includes her role as assistant vice president and head of ESG at AGF Investments, where she managed global sustainable and impact investing strategies.

“I am proud to be joining a firm investing in the transition to a more sustainable economy,” said Kong. “Gresham House has a track record of investing in transformative sectors and institutionalising asset classes. I look forward to working with Gresham House’s well-established team of sustainability experts and supporting the firm’s commitment to driving forward the sustainable investment agenda, alongside generating attractive financial returns for clients.”

Kong’s thought leadership in the sustainable investment field is reflected in her contributions to several boards and committees. She has served on the Investment Committee at The Atmospheric Fund and the Environmental Finance Advisory Committee at the University of Toronto. Currently, she is a director at the University of British Columbia Investment Management and co-founder & chair of the Canadian Responsible Investment Working Group.

Tony Dalwood, CEO of Gresham House, expressed enthusiasm for Kong’s appointment: “Hyewon has an outstanding track record both as an investor as well as building and leading sustainable investment portfolios and research platforms. She shares our view and approach to delivering sustainable outcomes for clients with attractive financial returns on capital. Hyewon’s extensive experience of working with institutional investors across the globe will be hugely valuable to our team as we look to establish Gresham House as the manager of choice for sustainable investment client solutions and hence to accelerate our growth ambitions.”

Gresham House focuses on helping clients achieve their financial goals while advancing the transition to a sustainable economy. The firm invests in sectors such as sustainable infrastructure, natural capital, battery storage, renewable energy, forestry, and real estate, aligning with its commitment to delivering both positive environmental impact and competitive financial returns.
