Garanti BBVA has successfully obtained its first syndicated loan of the year under its Sustainable Debt Financing Framework, reinforcing its commitment to sustainable finance. The loan, part of the bank’s international borrowing programme, has a 367-day maturity and comprises two tranches: $244 million and €162.4 million. A total of 43 banks participated, with the loan fully renewed at costs of SOFR + 1.75% and Euribor + 1.5%, respectively.
Garanti BBVA CEO Mahmut Akten highlighted the bank’s leadership in sustainable finance, recalling its status as the first institution to issue a syndicated loan tied to sustainability criteria. He expressed satisfaction with the strong demand for the loan in international markets, both in terms of the number of participating banks and the volume of funding secured.
“Our commitment to financing projects that combat climate change and promote inclusive growth remains steadfast,” Akten said. “We will continue to support sustainable development and contribute to the national economy, leveraging our strong financial structure and international reputation.”
