SHEIN establishes External ESG Advisory Board

SHEIN, the global online fashion retailer, has announced the formation of two advisory bodies aimed at advancing its corporate responsibility and sustainability objectives. The boards, comprising global experts and industry leaders, will provide insights to guide SHEIN’s environmental, social, and governance (ESG) strategies as well as its regional operations.

SHEIN’s External ESG Advisory Board (EEAB), consisting of independent specialists in sustainability and ESG, will counsel the company on emerging trends, risks, and opportunities while providing feedback on its policies and practices.

The members include Ram Gidoomal CBE (Chair), a seasoned businessman and philanthropist with extensive experience in sustainability leadership, including roles as Chairman of CottonConnect and Traidcraft plc. Dr. Xiaohui Liang is an expert on corporate social responsibility in China, recognised by the United Nations Global Compact for his contributions to sustainable development goals. Donald Tang, SHEIN’s Executive Chairman said, “Their insights into supply chain governance, circularity, and decarbonization will be critical as we advance our sustainability journey.”

To complement the EEAB, SHEIN is also launching Regional Strategic and Corporate Responsibility Committees. These bodies will ensure the company’s operations contribute positively to local economies and communities.

The first committee will target Europe, the Middle East, and Africa (EMEA), with independent members including Christophe Castaner, chairman of the Supervisory Board of the Port of Marseille-Fos, with expertise in governance and strategic planning; Nicole Guedj, lawyer and former French Secretary of State for Victims’ Rights, known for her humanitarian initiatives, and; Bernard Spitz, a prominent business leader and former President of the French Insurance Federation with extensive international relations experience.

Leonard Lin, SHEIN’s President of EMEA said, “Our growth strategy aims to create value for the communities where we operate. These advisory bodies reflect our commitment to global and local corporate best practices.”

Ram Gidoomal, Chair of the EEAB, expressed his dedication to advancing SHEIN’s sustainability goals and said, “I am honoured to collaborate with my fellow board members and SHEIN’s leadership to ensure the highest standards of environmental and social responsibility.”
