The UN Environment Programme Finance Initiative (UNEP FI) has named Amita Chaudhury, Group Head of Sustainability at AIA, as the new Chair of its Principles for Sustainable Insurance (PSI) board.
Chaudhury, who has led sustainability strategy at AIA, one of Asia’s largest life insurance companies, brings significant experience in embedding ESG considerations into the insurance sector. Her appointment is expected to bolster the PSI’s efforts to guide the industry in addressing global sustainability challenges.
The PSI, established in 2012 under the UN Environment Programme Finance Initiative (UNEP FI), provides a global framework for the insurance sector to address risks and opportunities associated with environmental, social and governance issues. With more than 250 signatories worldwide, the initiative works to align insurance practices with sustainable development goals and the Paris Agreement on climate change.
As Chair, Chaudhury will help steer the PSI’s strategic direction and support its community of signatories in strengthening their commitments to sustainable insurance.
