Amita Chaudhury, Group Head of Sustainability at AIA Group Limited, has been appointed Vice Chair of the United Nations Environment Programme Finance Initiative (UNEP FI) Principles for Sustainable Insurance (PSI) – the world’s largest collaboration between the United Nations and the insurance industry.
In her new role, Chaudhury will help steer the global strategy and work programme of the PSI, with the goal of enhancing the insurance sector’s contribution to building a resilient, inclusive, and sustainable future.
Announcing the appointment on LinkedIn, Chaudhury stated: “I look forward to working with the PSI Board and the Secretariat in shaping the global strategy and work programme of the PSI to strengthen the insurance industry’s contribution to building a resilient, inclusive and sustainable future for communities and economies on a healthy planet.”
At AIA, Chaudhury leads the organisation’s wide-ranging sustainability efforts across Asia, embedding environmental and social responsibility at the core of its mission to help people live Healthier, Longer, Better Lives and create long-term value for stakeholders.
Prior to joining AIA, Chaudhury served as Senior Advisor for Sustainability at the UN Global Compact, seconded from Unilever. Her tenure at Unilever also included roles as Global Director and Head of Sustainable Business for South East Asia and Australasia.
