thyssenkrupp nucera finalises acquisition of Green Hydrogen Systems assets

thyssenkrupp nucera, has successfully completed the acquisition of strategic technology assets from the Danish firm Green Hydrogen Systems (GHS). The transaction, which follows an initial announcement in June, was finalised after securing all necessary regulatory approvals and the formal consent of the court-appointed insolvency administrator.

The asset deal encompasses a comprehensive suite of intellectual property and a specialised test facility in Skive, Denmark, featuring a full-size technology prototype. This acquisition allows thyssenkrupp nucera to bolster its Alkaline Water Electrolysis (AWE) portfolio by integrating advanced pressurised solutions.

A primary technical advantage of the newly acquired technology is its ability to facilitate hydrogen production at operating pressures of up to 35 bar. This capability is expected to be highly beneficial for industrial applications that require compressed hydrogen, significantly increasing efficiency by reducing the need for external compression.

Financed entirely through existing liquidity, the purchase price for the assets is reported to be in the high single-digit million euro range. The move aligns with the company’s broader innovation roadmap and solidifies its standing at the forefront of the global green hydrogen market.
