Apple has launched its iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max, designed with sustainability at the forefront, as part of its commitment to becoming carbon neutral by 2030. Under the “Apple 2030” initiative, the company is prioritising renewable electricity in its manufacturing process and investing in global wind and solar projects to offset the electricity used in charging all Apple products, including the new iPhone lineup.
Currently, all Apple facilities, including data centers powering Apple Intelligence, operate on 100 percent renewable energy. The iPhone 16 Pro series aligns with these eco-friendly goals, incorporating over 25 percent recycled materials. The internal structural frame is made from 100 percent recycled aluminum, and more than 80 percent of components feature recycled steel. The battery includes 100 percent recycled cobalt, with over 95 percent recycled lithium — a first for the iPhone series.
The packaging for the iPhone 16 Pro is entirely fiber-based, bringing Apple closer to eliminating plastic from its packaging by 2024. Additionally, these models meet Apple’s rigorous energy efficiency standards and are free from harmful materials like mercury and PVC.
In terms of features, the iPhone 16 Pro models introduce Apple’s A18 Pro chip, enhancing performance, camera capabilities, and immersive gaming experiences. The new 48MP Fusion camera, 4K120 fps Dolby Vision video recording, and 5x Telephoto camera provide a leap in creative capabilities. Along with a durable yet lightweight titanium design, the iPhone 16 Pro Max offers the best battery life ever seen in an iPhone, solidifying Apple’s vision of merging innovation with sustainability.
