The Australian Securities and Investments Commission (ASIC) and the Australian Accounting Standards Board (AASB) have teamed up to launch a series of free, in-person workshops aimed at helping businesses navigate the upcoming mandatory sustainability reporting landscape. These sessions are specifically tailored for small and mid-sized companies that are beginning to prepare for reporting cycles starting on or after 1 July 2026.
The initiative follows the recent rollout of ASIC’s e-learning modules and is designed to move beyond digital theory into practical application. Attendees—ranging from directors and employees to small business owners and creditors—will have the opportunity to network with peers and share insights on transitioning to the new standards. Delivered by the University of Technology Sydney (UTS), the sessions will take place throughout May in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, and Perth.
Participants can expect expert-led presentations and hands-on activities focused on four primary areas:
- The fundamentals of climate science
- Identifying and managing climate-related physical risks
- Navigating climate-related transition risks
- Recognising climate-related opportunities
By providing a collaborative environment to apply these core concepts, the workshops aim to build confidence across the business sector ahead of the mandatory deadlines.
