Board Intelligence, the UK and Sweden-based board technology and advisory firm, has announced the acquisition of Competent Boards, a global platform specialising in board director education, sustainability governance, and board assessments.
The acquisition brings together two female-led organisations at the forefront of boardroom effectiveness. It will combine Board Intelligence’s AI-driven governance tools with Competent Boards’ established programmes in sustainability, corporate responsibility, and executive training. The move is expected to bolster boardroom resilience amid growing challenges in areas such as artificial intelligence, sustainability, and geopolitical risk.
Competent Boards was founded by Helle Bank Jorgensen, a corporate governance expert and member of the World Economic Forum’s Global Future Council. Since launching its training programme in 2018, the organisation has supported directors and executives in 57 countries, including representatives from Fortune 500 companies, institutional investors, and multinational firms such as Coca-Cola, Manulife, Rio Tinto, and Tata Sons.
Jorgensen will join Board Intelligence as Global Managing Director, Board Development. Commenting on the integration, she said the partnership represented “a shared commitment to transforming boardrooms for the realities of our fast-changing world”.
Board Intelligence CEO Pippa Begg said the acquisition would enhance the firm’s capacity to support global leaders through a more comprehensive suite of board assessment and development services. “We’re delighted to welcome Helle and her team. Their approach aligns with our vision for a better-governed world.”
Financial terms of the transaction have not been disclosed.
