AIRCO, a company specialising in carbon conversion technology, has appointed two new executives to its leadership team. Dr Sathya Motupally joins as Chief Operating Officer (COO), while James Mackey takes on the role of Chief Financial Officer (CFO).
Dr Motupally, an expert in energy and clean technology, previously served as Global COO of Doosan’s fuel cell business and has advised the United States Department of Energy. He has significant experience in scaling clean energy businesses and led the expansion of Doosan’s operations, increasing the company’s size more than sevenfold.
Mackey brings expertise in finance, investment strategy and commercial development. Prior to joining AIRCO, he was Managing Director at Climate Investment, overseeing investments aimed at reducing industrial greenhouse gas emissions. He has also held senior finance and M&A roles at Apex Clean Energy and NextEra Energy Resources.
Their appointments follow AIRCO’s recent $70 million Series B funding round, supporting the company’s goal of large-scale production of its synthetic aviation fuel, AIRMADE™ SAF.
AIRCO’s CEO and co-founder, Gregory Constantine, welcomed the new hires, emphasising their expertise in energy and defence technology and their role in the company’s next phase of growth.
The company’s AIRMADE™ technology enables the production of synthetic fuels using captured CO₂ and hydrogen, with a focus on industrial applications, particularly aviation. AIRCO collaborates with airlines such as JetBlue and Virgin Atlantic and holds government contracts with NASA and the US Department of Defense.
