CarbonBuilt, an ultra-low carbon concrete producer, has acquired Jolley Concrete and Block, a family-owned concrete producer supplying masonry, retaining wall, and paver products, along with ready-mix concrete. The company plans to upgrade Jolley Concrete’s block plant with its proprietary decarbonisation technology, making it the first commercial producer of ultra-low carbon concrete products in New England.
As part of the transaction, CarbonBuilt sold the ready-mix division to Massachusetts-based Sterling Concrete Corp. The acquisition and decarbonisation efforts are supported by TheNewClimate, Inc., the Schmidt Family Foundation, and Meta.
CarbonBuilt has also announced key leadership appointments to drive its expansion strategy.
Michelle Carvin has been promoted to Chief Executive Officer, transitioning from her role as Chief Financial Officer. With a background in mergers and acquisitions at Goldman Sachs, she will lead CarbonBuilt’s growth through strategic acquisitions and scaling its technology.
Brian Bush has joined as Chief Manufacturing Officer, bringing experience from Austin Block & Quarry, Partanna, and Oldcastle. He will oversee manufacturing operations and ensure production efficiency.
Conor Cooper has been appointed Chief Commercial Officer. Formerly CarbonBuilt’s Head of Business Development and President of Oldcastle APG’s Anchor division in the Northeast, he will lead the company’s commercial strategy and expansion in New England.
Michelle Carvin, CEO of CarbonBuilt said, “We are building a platform of deeply decarbonised concrete manufacturing plants and forging partnerships that will transform the future of the masonry and hardscapes industry.” The acquisition marks a step forward in CarbonBuilt’s efforts to establish a network of decarbonised concrete manufacturing plants and accelerate the transition to lower-carbon construction materials.
