Condor uses SAF supplied by Moeve on Tenerife–Germany routes

Moeve has completed the supply of sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) to Condor for flights departing from Tenerife South Airport, an airport not currently covered by the EU’s ReFuelEU Aviation requirements.

The agreement covered more than 515 metric tonnes of SAF, produced from used cooking oil and agricultural waste. Moeve estimates the fuel will cut lifecycle carbon dioxide emissions by around 1,700 tonnes compared with conventional jet fuel. The SAF was used on Condor routes linking Tenerife with German cities including Hamburg, Munich, Frankfurt and Düsseldorf. According to airport operator Aena, more than 450,000 passengers a year fly with Condor to and from Tenerife South Airport.

“This agreement reinforces Moeve’s commitment to lowering emissions in aviation and in an industry as vital to Spain and Tenerife as tourism,” said Ángel Martínez Campos, Sustainable Aviation business development at Moeve. “Working alongside Condor to accelerate this effort clearly shows both companies’ dedication to sustainability beyond what is mandatory regulation.”

Condor said the SAF supply builds on initiatives introduced for passengers to support lower-emission flying. “Since last year, Condor guests have had the opportunity to voluntarily round up their flight booking price or make direct contributions to advance Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) and certified climate protection projects,” said Sina Rathgeber, Director Airport Relations, Government Affairs and Sustainability at Condor. “These funds are exclusively allocated to procure and deploy additional SAF beyond regulatory mandates.”

The SAF was produced at Moeve’s La Rábida Energy Park in Huelva, where the company is constructing a second-generation biofuels plant with a planned annual capacity of 500,000 tonnes of SAF and renewable diesel. The facility, which is more than 50% complete, is expected to begin production by the end of 2026.
