Ecolab, a hygiene and infection prevention solutions provider, has signed a five-year Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Siam Cement Group (SCG) to enhance competitiveness while advancing SCG’s ESG strategy towards net zero.
Running from June 2025 to May 2030, the agreement will focus on reducing greenhouse gas emissions and raising SCG’s water reuse ratio beyond the 13.10 per cent baseline recorded in 2024. The MoU builds on a 30-year collaboration between the two companies, which has already delivered innovations in sustainability, efficiency and environmental stewardship.
Under the partnership, Ecolab will work with SCG Packaging (SCGP) and SCG Chemicals (SCGC) to develop initiatives aimed at cutting emissions, optimising water use and lowering operational costs. The collaboration will also explore renewable energy opportunities and drive improvements in energy efficiency.
Ecolab chairman and chief executive Christophe Beck said: “For more than 30 years, Ecolab has been proud to support SCG on their sustainability journey. Our collaboration has shown how responsible business practices can protect the planet while creating long-term value. As we look ahead, we are confident that innovation and sustainable growth will help accelerate SCG’s environmental ambitions and inspire wider industry progress.”
SCG president and chief executive Thammasak Sethaudom said the MoU aligned with the group’s net-zero pathway: “Competitiveness and sustainability go hand in hand. This agreement will help us reduce costs, improve efficiency, increase water reuse and cut greenhouse gas emissions while strengthening our ESG priorities towards Net Zero 2050. Partnering with a global leader like Ecolab demonstrates how collaboration creates shared value through innovation at a world-class level.”
Danaidej Ketsuwan, chief financial officer at SCGP, added that the partnership would strengthen its circular packaging strategy: “By integrating circular design principles and resource efficiency with Ecolab’s expertise, we will deliver packaging solutions that minimise environmental impact while adding value for customers and communities.”
Dr Suracha Udomsak, chief operations and innovation officer at SCGC, said the collaboration would reinforce its “Low Waste, Low Carbon” agenda. “The partnership will allow us to further improve water and energy efficiency across operations, supporting our long-term competitiveness and sustainability commitments,” he said.
