EcoVadis has launched a new Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD) questionnaire, designed to assist companies in meeting the EU’s sustainability reporting requirements. The tool is integrated into EcoVadis’ suite of risk and sustainability management solutions, including the AI-powered IQ Plus platform and the Vitals questionnaire, and works in conjunction with EcoVadis Ratings.
With an estimated 50,000 companies required to comply with CSRD standards, including 10,000 non-European businesses operating in or trading with the EU, the directive demands detailed disclosures on operations, supply chain impacts, risks, and opportunities. However, many companies face challenges in collecting and analysing this data, particularly when engaging suppliers unfamiliar with sustainability reporting or constrained by limited resources.
The CSRD questionnaire aims to address these challenges by providing a comprehensive tool that aligns with European Sustainability Reporting Standards (ESRS). Suppliers can complete the questionnaire at no cost, enabling companies to efficiently gather the required supply chain data. Procurement and compliance teams can then generate audit-ready CSRD reports based on aggregated, trusted data.
The questionnaire supports companies in reporting on mandatory sustainability metrics, including greenhouse gas emissions, water usage, biodiversity impacts, workforce diversity, and labour standards. It reduces barriers to compliance, mitigating the risk of financial or reputational penalties for non-compliance.
EcoVadis co-founder and co-CEO, Pierre-Francois Thaler said, “Thousands of companies are now required to report on complex sustainability metrics. Those lagging behind risk financial, reputational, and competitive losses. The CSRD questionnaire provides a robust tool to help businesses of all sizes navigate these requirements.”
The CSRD questionnaire was developed in collaboration with EcoVadis customers to ensure it addresses real-world disclosure needs. Available as a paid add-on for enterprise procurement teams using IQ Plus with Vitals, the tool allows buyers to invite suppliers to participate for free. The aggregated data can be exported in audit-ready formats, covering all material ESRS topics. The new offering is intended to assist companies at all stages of their sustainability efforts. With increasing scrutiny on corporate sustainability disclosures, tools like the CSRD questionnaire provide businesses with a practical solution to ensure compliance with evolving regulations.
