Equinix partners with CleanMax to power data centres in India

Equinix, a global provider of digital infrastructure, has signed its first power purchase agreement (PPA) in India with CleanMax, a major renewable energy provider in Asia’s commercial and industrial sector. Under this agreement, Equinix and CleanMax will establish a 33 MW Captive Power Plant in Maharashtra, designed to supply renewable energy for Equinix’s expanding portfolio of data centres in Mumbai, aligning with India’s renewable energy goals.

The Captive Power Project will include 26.4 MWp of solar capacity and 6.6 MW of wind capacity, scheduled to go live in phases starting in 2025. Once fully operational, the project will supply renewable energy for Equinix’s International Business Exchange (IBX) data centres in Mumbai, which are seeing increased demand driven by AI advancements.
