HUGO BOSS unveils NovaPoly: Recycled yarn to combat microplastics

HUGO BOSS has unveiled NovaPoly, a new recycled polyester yarn developed in collaboration with suppliers Jiaren Chemical Recycling and NBC LLC. Holding exclusive usage rights and the trademark for the first year, the German fashion house plans to license the material across the broader fashion industry, positioning the innovation as a potential new benchmark for sustainable textiles.

The launch is part of the company’s BOSS THE CHANGE sustainability initiative. NovaPoly will debut in BOSS Green performance wear pieces from the Spring/Summer 2026 collection, with the first products set for global release in October 2025 across the brand’s online platform, BOSS stores, and select wholesale partners.

Produced from pre- and post-consumer textile waste, NovaPoly incorporates a natural additive that enables the fibre to degrade more easily in the environment—an effort aimed at curbing microplastic pollution. It builds on the brand’s existing work in developing alternatives to conventional synthetics, including past innovations with HeiQ AeoniQ.

Although initially limited to BOSS and HUGO products, HUGO BOSS is exploring a licensing model to make the fibre more widely available across the fashion sector in the future.
