L’Oréal Hong Kong wins gold at HKAEE for sustainability excellence

L’Oréal Hong Kong has been awarded the Gold Award in the “Shops and Retailers” category at the Hong Kong Awards for Environmental Excellence (HKAEE). The award acknowledges the company’s significant strides in sustainability, from eco-designed retail stores to renewable energy adoption.

The HKAEE evaluation covered a range of criteria, including green leadership and sustainability performance. L’Oréal Hong Kong has been recognised for its initiatives in four key areas: green office, green operations, green retail, and green consumption.

The L’Oréal Hong Kong office has LEED Platinum certification, uses 100% renewable energy, and reduces energy consumption year over year.  The company offers plastic free local packaging, complete recycling of warehouse disposals and emissions reduction through sea and rail transport and electric vehicles to qualify in the green operations section. Additionally, the company has 100% eco-designed new stores using sustainable materials. Also, over 600,000 empty beauty bottles are collected for recycling through a partnership with Watsons. The company has also introduced refillable beauty products to reduce packaging waste.

Eva Yu, President and Managing Director of L’Oréal Hong Kong said, “Winning the Gold Award at HKAEE highlights the importance of integrating sustainability into retail operations. It reflects our commitment to making meaningful environmental contributions in partnership with our community.”

L’Oréal Hong Kong’s efforts align with industry-wide movements to minimise environmental impact, demonstrating that sustainable practices can coexist with business growth.
