Meta has strengthened its clean energy collaboration with Zelestra, a global renewable energy company, to facilitate the construction of four new solar energy projects in Texas.
The projects, located in Hopkins, Lamar, Lampasas, and Henderson Counties, will feed electricity into the ERCOT grid, providing clean energy to support Meta’s data centre operations. The agreement expands the existing partnership between the two companies, advancing efforts to match Meta’s electricity usage with 100 per cent renewable energy.
Urvi Parekh, Head of Global Energy at Meta, highlighted the significance of the agreement in supporting the company’s sustainability commitments. “The renewable energy from these projects will support our data centre operations, as well as our ongoing efforts to match our electricity usage with 100 per cent clean and renewable energy.”
Phillip North, CEO of Zelestra US, described the partnership as a milestone in the company’s broader decarbonisation strategy. “We are pleased to triple the size of our partnership with Meta, demonstrating that we share the same commitment to accelerating decarbonisation. The agreement is a major boost to our wider ambition of doubling our total contracted renewables portfolio across the US in the next two years.”
