The United Nations Sustainable Development Solutions Network (SDSN) has partnered with the Sustainability Research and Innovation Congress (SRI), one of the world’s leading sustainability forums. SRI brings together thousands of sustainability leaders from government, civil society, academia, and the private sector across more than 80 countries to promote evidence-based, actionable solutions.
SRI2025, hosted by the University of Illinois System and co-convened by the Belmont Forum and Future Earth, will take place in Chicago and online from 16-19 June 2025. As a lead partner, SDSN will contribute to programme development, joint communications, and the activation of global networks to advance sustainability thought leadership.
Through this collaboration, SDSN’s International Conference on Sustainable Development will merge efforts with the SRI Congress, broadening its reach and impact. The partnership will facilitate cross-sector engagement, expanding SDSN’s influence while mobilising university-led initiatives to develop interdisciplinary, science-based solutions to sustainability challenges.
“SDSN’s partnership with the University of Illinois System and the SRI Congress provides an exciting platform to engage global stakeholders and accelerate the transition to sustainable development,” said SDSN President Jeffrey Sachs.
SRI2025 will feature over 140 events, including interactive sessions, workshops, and satellite activities across Chicago, showcasing strategies to address critical sustainability challenges at local and global levels.
“This partnership strengthens the congress’s global impact,” said Tim Killeen, President of the University of Illinois System. “With SDSN’s leadership, SRI2025 will drive transformative solutions to economic, societal, and environmental challenges.”
The congress is open to SDSN’s global network, including past International Conference on Sustainable Development participants, with special rates available for students and resource-constrained attendees.
