Swisscom partners with CEEZER to expand access to durable carbon removal

Platform for Climate Performance Assets, CEEZER, and Switzerland’s information and communication technology provider, Swisscom, have partnered to deploy durable carbon removal (CDR) and improve access to these assets for Swisscom’s business customers.

The partnership supports Swisscom’s climate strategy under its Group Sustainability Strategy 2030, which aligns with guidance from the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) and includes a net-zero emissions target for 2035. Through the agreement, Swisscom will procure durable CDR via CEEZER, using data-driven assessments to support its climate planning. The collaboration will also allow Swisscom to offer access to CDR solutions to its B2B customers.

“In the future, we want to work with CEEZER to enable our business customers to access this market as well,” said Saskia Günther, Head of Sustainability at Swisscom.

Swisscom said the partnership reflects its broader focus on supporting climate mitigation solutions beyond its own value chain, in line with the objectives of the Paris Agreement.

“Negative emissions technologies are not yet sufficiently represented in the market. We want to help close this gap,” Günther said. “We support the expansion of this market to make the necessary technologies available in sufficient quantities—not only to us, but to all companies.”

As part of the collaboration, Swisscom has also made a strategic investment in CEEZER, signalling its intention to support the scaling of carbon removal markets.

Magnus Drewelies, Chief Executive Officer of CEEZER, said the partnership reflects growing demand from companies seeking structured approaches to carbon removal procurement. “This partnership represents a step forward in making access to climate performance assets available to enterprises,” he said, adding that Switzerland plays an important role in the development of technical carbon removal and corporate net-zero planning.

The partnership comes amid increasing corporate focus on beyond value chain mitigation and the role of durable carbon removal in long-term climate strategies.
