Tata Power Solar Systems Limited has launched a pioneering rooftop solar initiative in India’s Uttar Pradesh, beginning in Varanasi city, aimed at providing clean energy to every home. The initiative promises significant financial savings and environmental benefits through advanced Rooftop Solar Solutions (RTS).
Residents can benefit from subsidies totaling up to Rs. 1,08,000 ($1294) on rooftop solar installations, including Rs. 78,000 ($935) from the Central Government for up to 3 kW and an additional Rs. 30,000 ($36) from the State Government.
Local subsidies further enhance the attractiveness of solar adoption in Uttar Pradesh, offering homeowners substantial relief on electricity bills. Installing a 3 kW solar rooftop system, with an initial investment of around INR 1.08 lakh ($1294) fully claimable through subsidies, can generate approximately 12 units of electricity daily, translating to about 360 units per month. This setup in Varanasi can save residents up huge amount on annual electricity costs.
The initiative also promotes net metering, enabling residents to earn credits for surplus electricity fed back into the grid. This feature not only reduces electricity expenses but also maximises the efficiency and financial benefits of transitioning to solar power. Tata Power Solar aims to raise awareness about the accessibility and advantages of rooftop solar solutions through this campaign.
Speaking at the launch ceremony Dr. Praveer Sinha, CEO& MD, Tata Power, said, “With the launch of our rooftop solar solutions in Uttar Pradesh, we provide residents with the best available opportunity to significantly reduce their energy bills and contribute to a greener environment. Our three decades of expertise, advanced technology such as bifacial modules, easy financing, trained workforce, and robust channel partner network guarantee a hassle-free switch to solar power.”
