Trinasolar, A*STAR Partner to advance battery manufacturing technologies

Trinasolar, a leader in photovoltaic (PV) and energy storage solutions, has announced a research collaboration with the Agency for Science, Technology and Research (A*STAR), Singapore’s leading public sector R&D agency. This partnership aims to optimise and upgrade industrial battery manufacturing technologies, supporting the green and low-carbon energy transition in China, Singapore, and globally.

The three-year collaboration will focus on the research and development of advanced energy storage battery technologies and the industrialisation of energy solutions. By leveraging ASTAR’s expertise in energy, materials, and intelligent manufacturing, the partnership aims to address core technical challenges in commercialised energy storage batteries. The Institute of Materials Research and Engineering (IMRE) at ASTAR will play a key role in developing innovative materials and enhancing battery performance.

Helena Li, Executive President of Trinasolar, expressed her gratitude for the support of the Singapore government in fostering new energy and green transition platforms. She praised ASTAR IMRE’s strong capabilities in new materials and electronics and expressed enthusiasm about collaborating with ASTAR’s forward-looking team. Trinasolar adheres to the mission of “Solar Energy for All.”

The partnership will adopt an open, inclusive, and collaborative innovation approach to develop next-generation energy storage battery technologies. This will enhance manufacturing technologies in the energy storage industry and contribute to the global sector’s high-quality development, ultimately aiming to build a beautiful, zero-carbon world.

Professor Xian Jun Loh, Executive Director of A*STAR IMRE said, “This collaboration combines IMRE’s research strengths with Trinasolar’s expertise in energy storage. Together, we aim to advance energy storage technology, translate scientific research into practical applications for Singapore, and contribute to technological and economic growth that benefits everyone.”
