Verde signs biochar supply deal with Biochar Solutions

Verde Resources Inc. has signed a supply agreement with Biochar Solutions LLC (BSL) to source engineered biochar for use in its BioAsphalt™ products, enabling carbon removal credit generation and joint technology development.

Under the agreement, BSL will manufacture and supply up to 38,500 tonnes of engineered biochar annually for integration into roadway materials used by Verde and its partners, including Ergon Asphalt & Emulsions. Around half of the supply is expected to qualify for carbon removal credits, subject to verification.

The partnership builds on earlier trials, including a proof-of-concept project conducted with the National Center for Asphalt Technology, which demonstrated the use of biochar in road construction and led to the issuance of verified carbon removal credits.

The companies will work together for an initial period of 18 months to assess market potential, with the possibility of a longer-term supply agreement.

Carbon removal credits generated through the use of biochar will be measured and verified under established protocols, with credits shared between the two companies.

Eric Bava, Chief Operating Officer of Verde Resources, said: “Securing long-term engineered biochar supply, aligning carbon monetisation, and advancing joint intellectual property are critical pillars of building an infrastructure platform capable of national and global scale.”

Greg Blair, Managing Partner of Biochar Solutions, said the collaboration would support the use of biochar in large-scale infrastructure applications with “measurable durability and verified carbon outcomes”.

The agreement supports Verde’s broader strategy to expand low-emission construction materials and participate in carbon markets.
