Zalando, Europe’s fashion and lifestyle platform, has partnered with carbon management software firm Cozero to improve emissions tracking and sustainability across its logistics operations.
The partnership will focus on enhancing carbon transparency and data quality within Zalando’s pan-European logistics network, as the retailer works toward its goal of achieving net-zero emissions in its own operations by 2040.
Cozero’s digital platform will assist Zalando in measuring and analysing carbon emissions, particularly Scope 3 emissions associated with its supply chain. The collaboration comes amid growing pressure on large companies to meet regulatory requirements, including the EU’s Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD), which mandates detailed environmental disclosures.
As part of the agreement, Cozero will provide its LOG module to improve the accuracy of carbon measurement across Zalando’s logistics network. The company will also implement the Supplier Module, aimed at improving data collection from logistics partners and providing a more comprehensive view of Zalando’s carbon footprint.
In the longer term, Zalando plans to gather direct logistics-related emissions data from its suppliers using future updates of the software. Cozero’s ACT module will also be integrated to facilitate emissions reduction planning and support decarbonisation efforts through data-driven actions and forecasting.
Zalando manages a complex logistics network across 25 countries, serving around 52 million active customers. Improving emissions data and transparency is seen as crucial to meeting its sustainability targets and complying with EU regulations.
The partnership reflects a wider trend across industries, with companies increasingly seeking technology-based solutions to reduce emissions and improve environmental accountability in complex supply chains.
