EcoVadis ranks top three for quality and usefulness in global ESG ratings survey

Supply chain assessment provider EcoVadis has highlighted its top-three ranking across both corporate and investor categories in the ERM Sustainability Institute’s latest Rate the Raters survey, a long-running benchmark evaluating environmental, social, and governance (ESG) ratings providers.

EcoVadis emerged as the only vendor among the 14 surveyed to secure a top-three position across all four evaluated metrics:

  • Corporate Standings: Ranked 1st for usefulness and 3rd for quality.
  • Investor Standings: Ranked 2nd for usefulness and 3rd for quality.

The Rate the Raters study has evaluated how institutional investors and corporate sustainability teams assess market rating agencies since 2010. The corporate survey gathered responses from 386 sustainability professionals across 39 countries, while the investor cohort represented approximately $23.5 trillion in assets under management.

The survey results reflect an evolving market focus on actionable supply chain intelligence over passive regulatory compliance. Data from the EcoVadis 2026 Sustainable Procurement Barometer, published alongside Accenture, indicates that 80 per cent of leading sustainable procurement programs identify innovation as a primary driver of return on investment, compared to 54 per cent among baseline peers.

To support decision-making across global value chains, EcoVadis integrates supplier sustainability scorecards, carbon accounting modules, risk mapping tools, and corrective action workflows into a single operational interface.

Pierre-François Thaler, Co-Founder and Co-Chief Executive Officer of EcoVadis, stated that receiving high marks from both corporate procurement teams and institutional investors reinforces the market necessity for sustainability metrics that drive operational decisions rather than simple disclosure.

Sylvain Guyoton, Chief Rating Officer at EcoVadis, added that while benchmark quality remains a baseline expectation, the primary commercial value of an ESG assessment depends on a firm’s ability to convert raw analytical data into measurable supply chain risk reductions.
