FlexGen Power Systems has announced the acquisition of Clean Energy Services (CES), a specialist provider of battery energy storage system (BESS) and utility-scale solar services. The move integrates CES’s commissioning and lifecycle maintenance teams into FlexGen’s existing software and service platform, aiming to improve system availability and asset reliability for the energy industry.
The transaction expands FlexGen’s capabilities beyond its HybridOS energy management software by incorporating CES’s solar expertise and authorized service provider status for various equipment manufacturers. CES will now operate as a subsidiary of FlexGen, maintaining its remote operations centre in Houston, Texas. This facility currently monitors over 1 GW of solar and 4.5 GWh of battery assets, complementing FlexGen’s existing operations centre in Durham.
“The addition of CES strengthens our service platform and reinforces our leadership in energy storage technology… FlexGen is positioned to deploy faster, operate better, and deliver sustained value,” said Kelcy Pegler, CEO of FlexGen.
Current CES clients will continue to receive services without interruption, with the added option to integrate FlexGen’s analytics and control software into their existing hardware. The acquisition combines FlexGen’s 15 years of integration experience with CES’s field-based technical workforce of over 125 engineers and technicians.
“Strong execution in the field is critical to minimizing downtime and maximizing long-term system performance,” noted Ahmad Atwan, CEO of CES. “This transaction enables us to deliver more robust solutions across a complementary set of customers and markets.”
