Hydrogen technology developer Plug Power Inc. has signed a 280-megawatt (MW) supply agreement with Arcadia eFuels to provide its GenEco electrolyzer technology for Project ENDOR in Denmark.
The supply contract is accompanied by a broader strategic cooperation agreement designating Plug as the preferred electrolyzer vendor for Arcadia eFuels’ future project pipeline across Europe and the Americas, which represents over 1 gigawatt (GW) of prospective capacity.
Project ENDOR, located at the Port of Vordingborg on Denmark’s southern coast, represents Arcadia eFuels’ flagship sustainable aviation fuel (e-SAF) manufacturing plant.
Once fully operational, the 280 MW facility will utilise renewable grid electricity to produce approximately 110 tonnes of green hydrogen daily. The hydrogen will be combined with captured carbon dioxide to produce drop-in synthetic jet fuel compatible with standard commercial aircraft engines.
Key operational highlights and market drivers include:
- E-SAF capacity: The facility will process 110 tonnes of green hydrogen daily to support commercial production of synthetic aviation fuel.
- Pipeline expansion: Preferred vendor rights established for four additional Arcadia eFuels development sites across Europe and the Americas, totaling more than 1 GW of electrolyzer capacity.
- Manufacturing priority: Arcadia eFuels gains priority access to Plug’s manufacturing output as future project pipeline phases advance.
- Regulatory compliance: Aligns with the European Union’s ReFuelEU Aviation mandate, which imposes progressive sustainable aviation fuel blending targets and specific quotas for synthetic e-fuels starting in 2030.
José Luis Crespo, President and Chief Executive Officer of Plug, stated that European mandates for synthetic aviation fuel are driving rapid demand for commercial-scale electrolyzer systems, adding that localized e-SAF production enhances regional energy security.
Amy Hebert, Chief Executive Officer of Arcadia eFuels, confirmed that signing the electrolyzer supply agreement marks a key milestone as Project ENDOR advances toward its final investment decision (FID).
The Danish deal expands Plug Power’s European green hydrogen portfolio, joining existing multi-megawatt projects across the UK, Spain, and Portugal, including its 100 MW electrolyzer installation at Galp’s Sines refinery.
