TotalEnergies to supply clean firm power to SWM’s French plants

TotalEnergies and SWM have signed a 10-year agreement for the supply of renewable electricity with a constant delivery profile, known as Clean Firm Power, to support SWM’s operations in France.

The contract, which will start in January 2026, covers a total volume of 800 GWh and will supply renewable electricity to SWM’s three French plants: Papeteries de Saint Girons, PDM Industries and LTR Industries. Power will be sourced from around 50 MW of TotalEnergies’ existing renewable generation assets in France, providing SWM with stable, competitive and low-carbon electricity tailored to the needs of the paper industry.

Sophie Chevalier, Senior Vice President for Flexible Power & Integration at TotalEnergies, said the agreement demonstrates the company’s ability to deliver customised clean power solutions for industrial customers by combining renewable generation with flexible assets from its integrated portfolio.

Giuliano Scilio, Vice President and Chief Information Officer at SWM, said the deal will secure around half of the group’s French electricity needs from renewable sources over the next decade. He added that the agreement represents a key step towards reducing Scope 1 and 2 emissions by 2033, while also providing cost predictability for an energy-intensive business and strengthening SWM’s ability to offer more sustainable products to customers.
