Utility Global appoints Erik Meuleman as Chief Technology Officer

Industrial decarbonisation company Utility Global has announced the appointment of Dr Erik Meuleman as Chief Technology Officer to lead the international commercialisation of its proprietary H2Gen technology.

Dr Meuleman joins the firm with over two decades of experience in commercialising separation and carbon capture technologies. He previously served as Chief Technology Officer at ION Clean Energy from 2016, where he directed product development and system optimization efforts that reduced capital expenditure capture costs by 30 per cent, operating expenses by 15 per cent, and solvent reclamation requirements by 90 per cent.

His earlier career includes leadership roles at Australia’s Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation (CSIRO), where he led research engineering teams developing carbon capture pilot plants and patents, as well as the Netherlands Organisation for Applied Scientific Research (TNO). He holds a doctorate in chemical engineering from the University of Twente.

Welcoming the appointment, Utility Global Chief Executive Officer Parker Meeks said: “Erik has spent two decades moving technology out of the lab and into industrial plants that run, which is exactly the discipline and leadership we need right now. He’s built technology organizations from the ground up more than once, and we are looking forward to working with Erik to enhance our advanced technical team’s ability to accelerate the continued commercial deployment of our proprietary H2Gen around the world.”

Dr Meuleman added: “What drew me to Utility is the combination of an exciting technology that already works at scale and a team ready to build real engineering discipline around it. I’ve spent my career doing exactly that kind of work, closing the gap between what’s proven in demonstration and what a customer can actually run with extreme confidence at industrial scale.”

Utility Global, a portfolio company of industrial-focused private equity firm Ara Partners, develops hydrogen production and decarbonisation systems designed to integrate into existing industrial assets across North America, Europe, and Asia.
