The Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) has published its 2025 Impact Report, detailing the organisation’s efforts to strengthen sustainability disclosure frameworks and advance corporate transparency into operational action across global markets.
The annual report outlines how GRI expanded its technical and regional support systems over the past year, focusing on driving impact measurement within the evolving global sustainability disclosure landscape.
Key operational milestones and strategic highlights from the report include:
- Updated climate and energy standards: GRI introduced strengthened disclosures focused on corporate climate transition plans, just transition metrics, science-based targets, and greenhouse gas emission reduction strategies.
- Biodiversity implementation: Following the launch of GRI 101: Biodiversity 2024, the organization executed pilot programs and strategic partnerships to help companies link nature-related impacts with broader enterprise risk and opportunity assessments.
- Education and professional services: The GRI Academy expanded its curriculum, granting GRI Professional Certification to 1,900 individuals during the period. The organization also delivered dedicated Report Services to users across 49 countries.
- Regional value chain engagement: Localized programs were deployed across key global regions, including agricultural value chain initiatives in Latin America, textile sector frameworks in South Asia, and small-and-medium enterprise (SME) development programs across Africa and Southeast Asia.
- Standard alignment: GRI deepened technical alignment with global standard setters, regulatory authorities, and industry stakeholders to streamline reporting requirements, limit duplicate disclosures, and support digital reporting integration.
Robin Hodess, Chief Executive Officer of GRI, stated: “In 2025, GRI continued to strengthen impact reporting on a global scale – through new standards, practical support for organizations, greater alignment with partners, and investment in digital reporting. As the reporting landscape becomes increasingly connected, our continuing role is to keep impact at the core and enable organisations to translate transparency into action.”
