Google partners with Nevoya and GMA to deploy electric semi-truck fleet in Texas

Google has entered into a partnership with freight technology firm Nevoya and the Center for Green Market Activation (GMA) to deploy 25 heavy-duty electric semi-trucks and dedicated charging infrastructure along a freight corridor connecting Houston and Dallas.

Under the agreement, Google will acquire the associated Environmental Attribute Certificates (EACs) generated by the electric route. EACs allow commercial enterprises to address Scope 3 logistics emissions across their supply chains by funding zero-emission freight operations.

The deployment forms part of a broader 63-truck initiative, marking the largest deployment of Class 8 zero-emission battery-electric trucks in Texas to date. Over the contract term, the total fleet is projected to log roughly 11 million miles annually, avoiding an estimated 92,000 metric tonnes of carbon dioxide equivalent emissions compared to conventional diesel operations.

Key operational and market details include:

  • Route Infrastructure: The project establishes a fully electrified regional transport corridor, integrating high-capacity charging infrastructure designed for heavy Class 8 commercial vehicles.
  • Collective EAC Procurement: By aggregating EAC demand across multiple corporate buyers alongside GMA, the partnership establishes a scalable procurement model designed to lower capital costs and accelerate zero-emission commercial transport adoption.
  • Emissions Reduction Metrics: The deployment targets significant reductions in particulate matter and greenhouse gas emissions along major Texas freight routes.

The initiative supports broader corporate commitments to commercialise alternative fuel and electrified freight solutions across global logistics networks.
