Kerstin Lopatta appointed Chair of EFRAG Sustainability Reporting Board

EFRAG has announced the appointment of Kerstin Lopatta as the new Chair of the EFRAG Sustainability Reporting Board (SRB). Her three-year term commences on 1 May 2026, following a formal appointment by the EFRAG General Assembly and a prior nomination by the European Commission.

Lopatta, who has served as Vice Chair of the EFRAG SRB for the past four years, brings a wealth of expertise to the role from her background as an auditor, consultant, and academic. Her experience across boards and audit committees has provided her with deep insights into the practical challenges businesses face regarding corporate disclosure.

Her leadership arrives at a critical juncture as the European Commission prepares to adopt delegated acts on simplified and voluntary European Sustainability Reporting Standards (ESRS) by the end of June. EFRAG is expected to play a central role in providing implementation support for these standards.

“I am delighted to welcome Kerstin as new EFRAG SRB Chair,” said Benoit Jaspar. “She has demonstrated strong expertise and strategic vision during her four years as Vice-Chair… and is fully equipped to take on the role.”

Lopatta expressed her commitment to advancing EFRAG’s mission during this transition. “I am honoured to take on the role of EFRAG SRB Chair at such a pivotal moment for sustainability reporting in Europe,” she stated. “My priority will be to ensure that the ESRS deliver meaningful, decision-useful information while supporting companies in their implementation journey.”
