Textile-to-textile recycling pioneer Circ has signed a multi-year commercial offtake agreement with international fashion retailer Primark to supply recycled polyester derived from blended garment waste.
The partnership marks Primark’s first long-term commitment with a textile-to-textile recycling company, aiming to introduce next-generation recycled polyester into its retail collections at scale by 2029.
Under the agreement, Circ will supply recycled polyester from its planned commercial-scale facility. The facility will process post-consumer and post-industrial textile waste sourced globally, including streams from European waste collection networks.
Circ’s patented hydrothermal process breaks down polycotton blends—a widely used material combination that has historically proven difficult to recycle—separating and recovering both polyester and cellulosic fibres for re-entry into apparel supply chains.
Peter Majeranowski, Chief Executive Officer of Circ, stated that long-term commercial commitments from global retailers are necessary to transition circular recycling technologies from pilot innovation to an industrial standard.
Lynne Walker, Director of Primark Cares, noted that the agreement supports the retailer’s strategy to increase recycled fibre usage, reduce reliance on virgin polyester, and embed circular design principles across its product range without increasing consumer prices.
The agreement aligns with Primark’s broader sustainability goals, which include designing garments for longevity and recyclability while enhancing supply chain traceability.
