The Office of the President of the Republic of Paraguay and JP Morgan Natural Capital have announced a joint investment of approximately $200 million to establish a large-scale sustainable forestry platform in Paraguay.
Developed in partnership with Paraguayan industrial conglomerate Grupo Robinson, the initiative will focus on establishing commercial forestry operations, restoring native forest ecosystems, and generating high-quality timber, wood products, and verified carbon credits.
Capital deployment is scheduled to commence in early 2027. The venture aims to advance Paraguay’s industrialisation strategy by expanding domestic timber processing capacity and producing value-added finished wood products for local and international export markets.
Santiago Peña, President of the Republic of Paraguay, stated that the partnership aligns with national economic development priorities by generating employment opportunities in rural regions, supporting community development, and encouraging sustainable natural resource management.
Angela Davis, Chief Executive Officer of JP Morgan Natural Capital, noted that the investment represents a scalable, long-term opportunity to combine international institutional capital with local operational capabilities to drive sustainable forestry management.
The project is expected to support broader regional economic development and establish localised processing infrastructure across Paraguay’s rural forestry sector.
