Colin Seward steps into new sustainability role at Cisco

Colin Seward, a veteran technology executive at Cisco, has announced that he is stepping into a new role within the company to lead enterprise-wide sustainability data initiatives.

Seward, who previously served as a high-level IT Director at Cisco, is now appointed as the Chief Sustainability Officer and will focus on scaling the tech giant’s environmental, social, and governance (ESG) reporting capabilities. Over the past two years, he has been a driving force behind the creation and deployment of the Cisco Sustainability Data Foundation (SDF)—a comprehensive, centralized platform that consolidates, automates, and models environmental sustainability data across the company’s vast global ecosystem.

The leadership transition comes at a critical time for multinational corporations, as regulatory pressures from frameworks like the European Union’s Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD) demand increasingly rigorous, transparent, and audited ESG metrics. In his expanded capacity, Seward is expected to champion use-case-driven data architecture, helping Cisco streamline complex Greenhouse Gas (GHG) emissions calculations and advance its corporate trajectory toward its public 2040 net-zero goal.

“I look forward to continuing Cisco’s progress on our net zero goal, circular product design, the Sustainability Data Foundation, and more,” Seward said in a LinkedIn post.
