EcoVadis, a global provider of sustainability supply chain ratings, has been selected to join the European Commission’s newly established AI Act Advisory Forum. The two-year strategic appointment positions the compliance firm to directly advise EU regulators on the technical implementation of the world’s first comprehensive artificial intelligence regulation.
Formed under Article 67 of the EU AI Act, the Advisory Forum is designed to function as a technical bridge between market participants and the European AI Office. The advisory cohort will help translate legislative mandates into practical design requirements covering software development, algorithmic transparency, data privacy protocols, and corporate product deployment.
EcoVadis was chosen as one of 174 members from a global pool of more than 700 applicants representing industry, academia, and civil society. Within the forum, the company will focus on representing interests related to sustainable supply chain transparency and responsible data orchestration.
The appointment follows several years of internal AI governance investments by EcoVadis. The firm has previously established internal corporate literacy programmes, implemented algorithmic transparency protocols, and deployed mitigation workflows to prevent prohibited machine learning practices. Through its seat on the forum, EcoVadis aims to help shape a regulatory landscape that balances technological innovation with strict ethical compliance across the European market.
Sophia Katrenko, Vice President of AI/ML at EcoVadis, commented, “Being selected to the AI Act Advisory Forum is a significant milestone for us. As we continue to integrate AI into our core operations, we are committed to ensuring our technologies are transparent, explainable, and aligned with the highest ethical standards. This Forum provides a crucial platform to contribute our expertise in sustainable and responsible AI, ultimately helping to shape a regulatory landscape that fosters trust and innovation across Europe.”
