Kanadevia Inova acquires controlling stake in Dutch biomethane specialist BioValue

Energy transition and circular economy solutions provider Kanadevia Inova has acquired a controlling interest in the operating business of BioValue B.V., a Dutch biomethane specialist focused on asset management, operations and maintenance, and construction management.

Following the acquisition, the business will trade under the name Kanadevia Inova BioValue. Kanadevia Inova will hold the majority equity interest, with the remaining stake held by a company owned by BioValue founder Ids Schaap, who will remain in his position as Chief Executive Officer.

The transaction expands Kanadevia Inova’s operational footprint in Northern Europe, supporting the upgrade and expansion of its fleet of biogas and biomethane plants. The deal transfers a team of 23 specialists to Kanadevia Inova, alongside long-term service agreements and future engineering contracts. Concurrently, Kanadevia Inova will acquire the remaining 15 per cent equity stake in the Cothen biomethane facility.

Key operational assets and strategic highlights include:

  • Cothen Biomethane Facility: The acquisition includes full ownership of the Cothen plant, a 90,000-tonne-per-year co-digestion facility in the Netherlands that produces 100 GWh of renewable energy annually.
  • Asset Management Platform: The transaction expands Kanadevia Inova’s global Asset Management unit, bringing its active operating portfolio to 17 plants across the United Kingdom, the Netherlands, Germany, Italy, Sweden, and the United States.
  • Operational Continuity: Existing technical and management teams will remain in place to maintain current customer service agreements while leveraging Kanadevia Inova’s international engineering network.

Bruno-Frederic Baudouin, Chief Executive Officer of Kanadevia Inova, stated: “The BioValue team have demonstrated what they are capable of with some truly impressive results over the past 10 years. By bringing them into Kanadevia Inova, we are improving our offering to the market, we are strengthening our support for customers, and we are accelerating our contributions to decarbonisation, circularity and energy security on a more global level.”

Ids Schaap, Chief Executive Officer of Kanadevia Inova BioValue, added: “Joining forces with Kanadevia Inova is an exciting next step for BioValue. By combining our local biomethane expertise with Kanadevia Inova’s technology and international experience, we can accelerate our growth and deliver even greater value for customers. I am pleased to continue leading BioValue and our team into this next phase.”
