Mitsubishi Heavy Industries (MHI) has entered into a Solutions Usage Partnership Agreement with Green AI Co., Ltd. to deploy “Green AI,” an energy and carbon dioxide reduction platform aimed at accelerating industrial energy efficiency across Japan.
The collaboration brings together MHI’s operational expertise in manufacturing decarbonisation with Green AI’s proprietary software system to support small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) managing upstream manufacturing processes.
MHI has previously utilised Marginal Abatement Cost (MAC) curves to evaluate and list energy-saving measures across its own facilities, establishing a clear link between capital expenditure and emission reductions. Under a joint framework with Shoko Chukin Bank, MHI plans to extend these methods to smaller businesses seeking cost-effective transition strategies.
Green AI’s platform draws on a database of approximately 5,700 energy-reduction measures to generate tailored decarbonisation roadmaps. By pairing these roadmaps with MHI’s technologies and equipment, the partnership aims to offer SMEs practical, lower-cost pathways to reduce fuel consumption.
Both companies emphasised that energy efficiency remains the primary step towards lowering emissions, noting that reduced energy intensity helps protect Japanese manufacturers from fluctuating global fuel prices and supply chain disruptions while improving overall competitiveness.
