German Landesbank NORD/LB has acquired Voltiq, a boutique advisory firm specialising in energy transition finance, to expand its corporate advisory and structured finance operations.
The acquisition integrates Voltiq’s project finance advisory, M&A, and equity-raising capabilities directly into NORD/LB’s established lending and underwriting platform.
Following the transaction, Voltiq will retain its brand identity and existing operational team while functioning as a specialised advisory unit within the bank’s international network.
The deal combines NORD/LB’s arranging, lending, and underwriting functions with Voltiq’s strategic deal advisory and equity-sourcing expertise. This expanded sector coverage encompasses solar, onshore and offshore wind, battery energy storage systems, green hydrogen, bio-energy, and transmission infrastructure.
The transaction builds upon NORD/LB’s renewable financing division, which has financed over 1,100 projects representing approximately 108 gigawatts of installed capacity over the past 30 years.
Legal counsel for NORD/LB was provided by Hogan Lovells Cadwalader, with Deloitte handling tax and financial due diligence. Kemperink, Maarschalkerweerd Wouters acted as legal adviser for Voltiq, alongside Sacaba Capital & Advisory as financial adviser and AvT Adviseurs as tax adviser. Management noted that the acquisition reinforces NORD/LB’s international growth strategy in sustainable infrastructure while giving Voltiq’s client base direct access to institutional balance-sheet capital.
