Verra launches upgraded S&P Global-powered registry

Carbon credit standards body Verra has launched a new registry platform powered by S&P Global Energy.

Following the partnership announcement last year, Verra migrated more than 5,900 projects across all operational stages—from initial draft to full registration—alongside 10,500 account holders, 1.4 billion credits, and 125,000 supporting documents onto the new digital infrastructure.

The updated Verra Registry fully integrates with the Verra Project Hub, enabling account holders to track project progression from initial listing through validation, credit issuance, transfer, and retirement within a single unified workspace, eliminating the need to navigate multiple independent systems.

Mandy Rambharos, Chief Executive Officer of Verra, noted that the platform was designed alongside S&P Global Energy to build the infrastructure required for carbon markets to operate at global scale. She added that upcoming project phases will introduce transaction-ready API connectivity and deeper integration across exchanges, brokers, and marketplaces to allow credits to move with increased speed and reliability.

The rollout follows a joint announcement by Verra and S&P Global Energy last month.

Leanne Todd, Head of Horizons at S&P Global Energy, previously stated in June that the deployment equips market participants with advanced workflows and an updated interface through the S&P Global Energy Environmental Registry, delivering a scalable system designed to adapt as market requirements evolve.

Future platform updates are scheduled to incorporate enhanced Article 6 functionality alongside dedicated data Application Programming Interface services.
