Digital infrastructure operator Core Stack, part of the Lazzari Group, and investment management firm Green Arrow Capital have announced a joint commitment to invest more than €1 billion over the next four years to construct 13 mid-sized data centres across Italy.
The development strategy focuses on building medium-sized facilities powered by on-site renewable energy generation, drawing entirely on Italian domestic supply chains for design, engineering, and equipment procurement.
Initial development will focus on sites in northern and north-eastern Italy before expanding into central and southern regions.
Key project milestones and operational parameters include:
- Permitting & construction: Regulatory approvals for the initial two facilities, situated in the provinces of Cremona and Verona, are expected by the end of 2027.
- Commercial operation: Commercial launch for the Cremona and Verona facilities is scheduled for the first quarter of 2028.
- Supply chain localisation: Construction and operational technology procurement will rely exclusively on domestic Italian suppliers and engineering firms.
- Renewable integration: Facilities will feature integrated, on-site clean energy generation to minimise grid load and reduce operational carbon intensity.
The joint venture aims to expand regional digital capacity to meet rising commercial demand for localized cloud computing and digital infrastructure across Italian regional markets.
