Global renewable energy company Sonnedix, which commands a total capacity of 12 gigawatts, has closed a €730 million financing package dedicated to the refinancing, optimisation, and construction of assets across France, Italy, Portugal, and Spain.

The capital will be distributed across photovoltaic plants with a combined capacity of approximately 540 megawatts alongside two battery energy storage system assets. Italy represents the largest share of this deployment, accounting for over 350 megawatts of capacity.

The transaction establishes a robust platform for Sonnedix to advance its hybridisation strategy, integrate storage solutions directly alongside its existing solar portfolio, and improve overall grid resilience and platform value.

The syndicated financing involves participation from nine major financial institutions: AIB, CACIB, CIBC, ING, Intesa Sanpaolo, Sabadell, Santander CIB, Société Générale, and UniCredit.

Axel Thiemann, Chief Executive Officer of Sonnedix, noted that the financing underscores the company’s commitment to high-quality projects in strategic markets and follows a recent battery storage portfolio acquisition in Italy.

Chief Financial Officer Miguel A. García Mascuñán added that the €730 million milestone provides significant financial flexibility to accelerate the company’s development pipeline while reinforcing long-term banking partnerships.
