Deep Sky joins Rubicon Carbon portfolio in first direct air capture partnership

Deep Sky, the world’s first tech-agnostic Direct Air Capture (DAC) carbon removal project developer, today announced a strategic multi-year offtake and partnership with Rubicon Carbon, a leading carbon credit management firm. This agreement marks a significant milestone as Deep Sky becomes the first DAC provider in Rubicon Carbon’s pioneering carbon credit portfolios.

Canadian carbon removal developer Deep Sky has announced a multi-year offtake and strategic partnership with Rubicon Carbon, a carbon credit management firm, marking the first time a Direct Air Capture (DAC) provider has been added to Rubicon’s carbon credit portfolios.

Under the agreement, Deep Sky will supply permanent carbon removal credits to Rubicon Carbon between 2025 and 2033. The deal integrates Deep Sky’s DAC-based carbon credits into Rubicon’s platform, which curates diversified and risk-adjusted carbon portfolios for businesses seeking to meet their climate goals.

Rubicon Carbon, which performs extensive due diligence on its credit providers, will offer clients access to Deep Sky’s credits beginning with deliveries from Deep Sky Alpha—its first DAC facility scheduled to begin operations this summer with a projected annual capture capacity of 3,000 tonnes.

Charlie Renzoni, Vice President of Carbon Markets at Deep Sky, said the agreement broadens access to the firm’s carbon removal credits.

“Partnering with Rubicon Carbon enables us to bring our DAC project portfolio to a broader audience of enterprises. Rubicon’s platform and active portfolio management ensure that our credits reach businesses around the world, driving greater climate impact.”

The partnership comes amid growing interest in DAC solutions, which are seen as a critical component in achieving net-zero targets. Deep Sky, which operates with a tech-agnostic model, is developing DAC projects across Canada and has raised over $100 million to support its national project pipeline.

Tom Montag, CEO of Rubicon Carbon, said the partnership aligns with the firm’s commitment to high-integrity climate solutions.

“We’re excited to work with Deep Sky and offer our clients early access to their innovative DAC projects. This collaboration reflects our mission to provide best-in-class carbon portfolios that help accelerate climate progress.”

The collaboration also offers Rubicon’s clients early access to credits, reduced delivery risk, and exposure to DAC projects backed by Canada’s renewable energy resources, carbon storage capacity, and supportive policy environment.
